The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer HBJ002P1 draws on one of the most important names in Seiko's chronograph history, the original 1969 Speedtimer. This modern interpretation pairs a sandblasted dark grey dial with warm gold-tone accents across the hands, bezel, crown and pushers, giving it a distinctly vintage motorsport character. A two-tone aluminium tachymeter bezel and chronograph seconds scale around the dial ring are classic Speedtimer details, while high-contrast sub-dials keep elapsed times quick and easy to read at a glance.
Inside is Seiko's solar Calibre V192, which charges from any natural or artificial light and runs for around six months on a full charge, so there's no battery to replace. It times events up to 60 minutes in 1/5 second increments, and adds a 24-hour hand, date display and a power reserve indicator shown at the push of a button. The 41.4mm stainless steel case is topped with a curved sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating, and LumiBrite on the hands and indices keeps it legible after dark.
