There's a reason the Cocktail Time bracelet models have their own following: the HCB001J1 pairs a genuinely dressed-up dial with everyday wearability that a leather strap can't quite match. A newly reworked five-link stainless steel bracelet sits slimmer and closer to the wrist than earlier Cocktail Time references, keeping the 38.5mm case light and comfortable through a full day's wear.
The dial is where "The Spotlight," Seiko's latest design language for the collection, earns its name. Named for the Emerald Mist, a whisky and citrus cocktail served at Tokyo's Star Bar, the gradient runs from deep blue into luminous turquoise, its point of light deliberately pulled off-centre to suggest a single spotlight cutting across a dim bar. Underneath, a crushed-ice texture shifts and catches the light with every turn of the wrist. Wedge-shaped indices and silver-toned hands keep the look sharp rather than busy, and the date window has been moved to a round aperture at 4:30, clearing the dial of the usual 3 o'clock cutout.
Inside is Seiko's own Calibre 4R35, an automatic movement with hacking seconds and manual winding, holding around 41 hours of power reserve. A see-through case back leaves it on show.
