Inspired by the cool elegance of the Silver Bullet cocktail, the Seiko Presage SSK049J is a sophisticated GMT watch that brings Japanese cocktail culture to the wrist. Part of the Presage Cocktail Time collection, this is one of the first pieces in the range to offer dual-time GMT functionality, making it as practical as it is beautiful.
The vintage-tone silver dial features a deep pressed pattern with a lustrous gloss finish, giving it a tactile, dimensional quality unlike most watches at this price point. A bold navy GMT hand, shaped like a cocktail glass, tracks a second time zone at a glance, while a gold-tone seconds hand adds a warm contrast that echoes the lemon garnish of the cocktail that inspired it. Blue cursive-style Arabic numerals mark the 24-hour scale, bringing a refined, celebratory feel to the overall design.
Powering the SSK049J is Seiko's in-house 4R34 automatic calibre, a 24-jewel movement with manual winding capability and a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The stop-seconds function allows for precise time setting, and the movement is displayed beautifully through a see-through screw caseback. A date display sits neatly at 3 o'clock for everyday practicality.
The 40.5mm stainless steel case wears comfortably at 12.8mm thick, with a lug-to-lug of 47.5mm suited to a wide range of wrist sizes. Box-shaped Hardlex crystal adds a vintage dome effect while offering solid scratch resistance. The watch is water resistant to 5 bar (50 metres), making it suitable for everyday wear including swimming. Quick-release spring bars make swapping the dark navy leather strap straightforward when the occasion calls for it.
